Tom David advises foundations and other public benefit organizations on program strategy and design, organizational learning and evaluation. Until August, 2004, he was Director of Organizational Learning and Evaluation at the Marguerite Casey Foundation in Seattle. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President of The California Wellness Foundation. He has also served as Vice President of the S.H. Cowell Foundation and Senior Program Officer at the James Irvine Foundation in San Francisco. Before beginning his work in organized philanthropy, he was Coordinator of Clinical Research for the Division of Adolescent Medicine, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and Director of the UCLA Bush Program in Child and Family Policy. He has been a member of the board of Grantmakers in Health and the Advisory Board of the Stanford Medical Youth Science Program. He has also served on the boards of Women and Philanthropy and Northern California Grantmakers, including a term as Chair. He was the recipient of the 2002 Terrence Keenan Leadership Award in Health Philanthropy from Grantmakers in Health. He received his Master's in Architecture and Urban Planning from UCLA and PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Chicago.
